What is 'bleed' in printing?
Bleed refers to the extra area around your artwork that gets trimmed off during printing. We require a 5mm bleed on all sides to ensure colours and images that run to the edge can be trimmed off without leaving white borders.
What is DPI, and why does it matter?
DPI stands for Dots Per Inch. It measures image resolution. For print, we recommend artwork be at least 300 DPI to ensure sharp, high-quality results.
What size should my file be for print?
Your file should match the final trim size of the product, plus bleed. For example, an A5 flyer should be 158mm x 220mm (A5 + 5mm bleed on all sides).
What colour mode should my file be in?
Always use CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) for print files. RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is used for computer screens and may result in colour shifts when printed.
My file is in RGB - will that be a problem?
We can convert it to CMYK, but colours may appear different in print. For best results, please supply CMYK artwork.
What is the difference between vector and raster files?
Vector files (like PDF, AI, or EPS) are scalable and ideal for logos and text. Raster files (like JPG or PNG) are made of pixels and may lose quality when resized.
Can I use images from my phone?
Yes, but make sure the image is high resolution. Screenshots or social media images are usually too low quality for good print results.
