i•go•print Print Specs / Guidelines

At i•go•print, we strive to ensure each job is completed correctly and on time. To achieve this, we need to eliminate unnecessary problems that may arise. If your artwork differs from the specified criteria, it may result in printing delays and potentially additional charges to amend the artwork. While we try our best to accommodate all artwork supplied, we cannot assume responsibility for print errors or delays due to incorrect submissions.

Following these guidelines will help minimize the most common issues.

Important: When sending files, consider each element as a new project. Storage of your jobs remains your responsibility. i•go•print will store each job for approximately one month after printing, unless otherwise agreed.

The information below is universal and not specific to i•go•print, but it is crucial when supplying correct material.

File Name

  • Use the actual file name when referring to a file to be output.

  • Avoid special characters or extremely long file names.

Checklist

Please ensure your final artwork meets the following criteria:

  • “Trim Size” is correct.

  • Bleed is defined at a minimum of 3mm.

  • Overprints have been set and checked.

  • All unnecessary objects have been deleted (on and off the document).

  • Images are scanned and placed at the required resolution (200–300 dpi recommended).

  • Black text is set in 100K, not registration or CMYK.

  • All pictures/images must be converted from RGB to CMYK at a minimum resolution of 300 ppi. Internet-quality images (72–96 dpi) are unacceptable for printing; if used, i•go•print cannot be held responsible for the quality.

PDF File Requirements

  • Only print-ready PDF files are accepted, which must be composite, not separated.

  • PDF files should include crop marks only (no other printer marks).

  • PDF files must be centred on the page.

  • Where possible, run all PDFs through preflight software and supply certified PDF/X-1a files.

  • PDFs should be supplied as single pages, not double-page spreads.

  • Fonts must be embedded or converted to curves/outlines.

  • Avoid creating print files from MS Publisher or Word; if you do, ensure colours are correctly set and not RGB.

Please note: We cannot use the following formats for printing: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, PNGs, JPGs, JPEGs, or GIFs.

Images / Scanned Graphics

Key considerations when scanning line art or photos: resolution, size, colour

  • Halftone images: 300 dpi

  • Line-art (solid black): 800–1200 dpi at 100% of actual layout requirement

  • Convert all images for process printing to CMYK, Greyscale, or Bitmap as needed

  • Do not supply RGB, LAB, or INDEX images

Digital Glossary

Bleed – Image or area extending beyond the trim edge. We print with bleed and trim to size, ensuring no white edges. Standard bleed: 3mm.

Type Area – Avoid placing text or critical details within 5mm of the edge to prevent trimming issues.

Trim Marks – Marks placed on the edge of the page indicating where the page is to be cut or trimmed to final size.

Resolution – Image quality, measured in dpi or pixels.

DPI – Dots per inch. Industry standard: dpi = twice the lpi (e.g., 150 lpi = 300 dpi).

PDF – Portable Document Format, embeds all data and maintains original layout.

CMYK – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black (Key colour). Four process colours used in print.

RGB – Red, Green, Blue. Used for screen display, not recommended for commercial printing.

Imposition – Arrangement of pages on a press form to ensure correct order after printing, folding, and trimming.

Register – Aligning two or more print images exactly.

Digital Proofs – Electronic proofs; we do not supply hard proofs by default. You can check digital proofs online when uploading artwork.

Hard Proofs – Must be requested separately; additional charge applies, and printing proceeds only after approval.
